PSNI band makes arresting debut at All-Ireland Fleadh
A performance by the PSNI’s pipes and drums band in the Guildhall Square has marked the first time that a police band from Northern Ireland has ever played at an All-Ireland Fleadh.
Hundreds of people clapped and cheered the band's performance which was attended by the city's most senior police officer, Chief Superintendent Stephen Martin.
He was joined by local composer Phil Coulter.
“This is a great step forward not only for policing in this city but also for this city”, said Mr Martin.
“Naturally our core role this week is to keep people safe so that all can enjoy this week long festival of music, song and dance.
“The PSNI’s pipes and drums band also gives us the opportunity to showcase the musical talent which we have in the police service and it's just terrific to be here to witness so many people enjoying the band's music.”
