Rain nightclub fined for overcrowding
A popular Belfast nightclub has been fined thousands of pounds for breaching its entertainment licence.
The owner of Rain, in Tomb Street, was fined £5,000 yesterday for three counts of overcrowding earlier this year. Coral Inns (NI) Ltd pleaded guilty to the breaches of the entertainments licence in January and February.
They were also ordered to pay legal costs of £122.
The club was found to have exceeded capacity on January 30, February 6 and February 11. It had also been found guilty of overcrowding in November 2010.
On one occasion, inspectors found the number of patrons exceeded the limit by more than 300.
