Retailers make big push for Small Business Saturday
Shoppers are being urged to support their local businesses today on what has become known as Small Business Saturday.
The Northern Ireland Independent Retail Trade Association (NIIRTA) has asked consumers to put small shops first on December 5 and throughout the Christmas period.
NIIRTA chief executive Glyn Roberts, along with NIIRTA member and Top 100 Small Business Saturday finalist Chris Suitor, attended a reception for the event hosted in London by Chancellor George Osborne.
"Shoppers have a real opportunity to do their bit and support their local shops on Small Business Saturday and throughout the Christmas period," Mr Roberts told this paper.
"Independent retailers offer quality, choice and something different to the multiple retailers."
