Revealed: Northern Ireland's biggest wasters
People in the Antrim and Newtownabbey council area are Northern Ireland's biggest wasters, new figures reveal.
They generated the largest amount of household rubbish per person between October and December 2016 at 129kg.
And people in Belfast are the worst recyclers, according to new Stormont statistics.
Newry, Mourne and Down residents generated the smallest amount of household waste per person - just 97kg.
Councils collected 228,631 tonnes of household rubbish between October and December 2016.
That represents a slight drop of 0.6% on the 230,089 tonnes collected during the same three months of 2015.
The recycling rate for household waste was 42.1% in the last quarter of 2016, an increase on the 40.1% recorded during the same three months of 2015.
At council level, rates varied from 37.1% in Belfast to 49.9% in Mid Ulster.
