Commonwealth boxing champion Michael Conlan delivered a "knock-out" proposal to his girlfriend - with the help of their adorable baby girl.

He enlisted the help of four-month-old Luisne to pop the big question.

The 23-year-old proposed to girlfriend Shauna Olali in a novel way by propping a page with the words 'Mummy will you marry my Daddy: please!?!' above the tot as she sat in a baby chair dressed only in a nappy and sucking a dummy.

The fact she was wearing a large solitaire diamond ring on her chubby index finger meant that Shauna could hardly refuse such a proposal.

Michael, who won a gold at last year's Commonwealth Games and is aiming for gold at next year's Olympics in Rio, proudly announced his good news to his 25,000 Twitter fans yesterday by sharing an Instagram pic of the tot with the message "She said yes. #lovingit."

The couple are in Portugal at the moment with their baby and received hundreds of messages of good luck from family and fans.

Michael's mother Teresa posted on Twitter - "@mickconlan11 congrats son & shaunaolali21 on your engagement today, delighted for u both, can't wait to celebrate. #WelcomeToTheFamily."

His brother Jamie tweeted: "Over the moon for @mickconlan11 and his now fiancé Shauna! #Congratulations #WelcomeToTheFamily" while his close friend and fellow Commonwealth champ Paddy Barnes simply tweeted "Congratulations".

He gave a clue that his best man is likely to be north Belfast boxer Conor Burns.
