Road crash motorcyclist still critical
A motorcyclist who was injured in a two-vehicle road crash in east Belfast remained critically ill in hospital last night.
The collision, involving a motorbike and a car, happened at the junction of the Ballymaconaghy Road and Knockbracken Manor in the Castlereagh area of the city.
It was reported to police at around 5.40pm on Friday evening.
A man aged in his 50s was arrested by police and later released on bail pending further enquiries.
The PSNI are appealing for witnesses.
This latest road crash comes just two weeks after Neil McAleer (24) from Omagh died following a collision with a lorry in September.
Some 48 people have died following road crashes so far this year.
The number represents a significant drop on the equivalent figure for this time last year (55), and the year before that (61).
