Rory McIlroy and his tennis star girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki have retreated to Monaco to lick their wounds following their double disappointment.
The pair jetted back to Caroline's apartment in the glamorous principality after Rory failed to make the cut at the Irish Open and she crashed out in her second round at Wimbledon.
Tweeting as the couple were about to meet up after their lacklustre performances, the Holywood golfer hinted that he now considers the Danish sportswoman's apartment home.
On Saturday Rory wrote: "Can't wait to get home to Monaco tomorrow with @CaroWozniacki! #sunseaandpractice"
Caroline replied: "@McIlroyRory don't forget to pick me up on the way;) lol.. Home sweet home!"
Wozniacki officially resides in Monaco while Rory recently bought a home at Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
But his tweet could show that he sees Monaco as more of a home than the US. After a few days in the Mediterranean sunshine, Rory will head into the Open Championship at Muirfield on the back of a missed cut at the Irish Open.
He was joined in making an early exit by fellow Major winners Graeme McDowell, Padraig Harrington and Darren Clarke.
McIlroy admitted on Thursday he felt "a little bit lost" as he struggles to rediscover the form which brought him five victories last year and also made him world number one.
After Wozniacki's shock early departure from Wimbledon, it was thought she may have turned up beside the greens to cheer him on at the weekend, had he made the cut.
Both have experienced a dip in success in recent months.
"There are no aspects of my game that are really strong at the moment but I've just got to keep trying to shoot good scores and hopefully it will turn round," Rory said after a bad start to the Irish Open.
Wozniacki was in an upbeat mood about receiving support from fans after her early departure from Wimbledon. Tweeting afterwards, she said: "Scan, treatments, scan, treatment, treatment, treatment.. #getfit.. Thanks for all the support tweeps!"
After taking a nasty tumble in the first set of her match with Petra Cetkovska, Caroline underwent treatment and got some heavy strapping on her ankle.
But the medical help didn't improve her performance and she lost 6-2, 6-2.
Paul McGinley, Europe's Ryder Cup captain, said McIlroy's form should be no reason for concern. "I don't think Rory is ever going to be a flat-line golfer. I think it's in his DNA to be up and down," he said.
Rory McIlroy and Caroline Wozniacki began dating in the summer of 2011. The tennis star (22) officially resides in Monaco but, like Rory, her sport takes her all over the world.
McIlroy (24) officially resides in Florida after selling his home near Moneyrea, Co Down. When they met, Wozniacki was ranked number one in women's tennis but has since dropped to ninth. McIlroy's success has been patchy, ranging from a Major win to missing the cut. In the first six months of this year he has recorded just one top-five finish in 12 events.
