Rory McIlroy shelled out £433,000 on Erica Stoll's sparkler
He is one of the richest sports stars in the world, and it seems Rory McIlroy has let the ring do the talking when it comes to showing how much his new fiancée means to him.
The Northern Irish golfer and his wife-to-be Erica Stoll confirmed the news last week when the American beauty stepped out sporting a massive diamond on her ring finger.
The oval cut diamond is worth an estimated £433,000 - more than double the estimated price of the engagement ring presented by Rory to former fiancée Caroline Wozniacki.
McIlroy and Danish tennis ace Caroline parted ways in May last year, five months after the golfer popped the question with the 'cushion-cut, halo-style' sparkler during a New Year's Eve fireworks display in Sydney.
It was reported at the time of the split that Rory (26) wanted the tennis star to keep her engagement ring after ending their relationship.
Dublin-based diamond expert Seamus Fahy said that he would value the 'four carat' diamond ring worn by Caroline at £180,000.
Meanwhile, an oval cut diamond like Erica's could net a price of nearly half a million pounds.
"The oval one is worth more," said Mr Fahy.
"I would value the five carat ring at about £433,000."
And it seems Rory opted for a popular style this time, with Mr Fahy confirming that oval diamonds are the cut of choice at the moment.
Former world number one Rory, who's worth nearly £300m, is said to have gone down on bended knee during a trip to Paris.
The current number three has made no secret of the fact that he's head over heels in love with the beautiful Florida native, who he has been dating for nearly a year.
