Row over Prehen land rumbles on
The fate of a parcel of land beside an ancient Londonderry woodland was today hanging in the balance after planners agreed to hold a decision on whether new houses can be built on it.
A meeting of the Planning Committee last night received presentations from Matthew Kennedy from MLA Planning, agent for the developer, and Gemma Harkin from Holywell Trust, whose members want the application to be altered again.
Last night the Planning Service approved the latest application for four houses and access, as no statutory bodies or consultees had lodged objections to the plans - although 40 residents have objected.
However, Mark Durkan, Foyle MP, has written to Environment Minister Arlene Foster expressing concerns in relation to the Derry Area Plan. Planning Service have agreed to "hold" any decision until she has replied.
