Ruth passes away at 103 after 'wonderful life'
One of Northern Ireland's oldest women has died just weeks after celebrating her 103rd birthday.
Ruth Henning passed away peacefully at Rosevale Lodge Care Home on Monday.
The Portadown-born woman celebrated her birthday at the care home in September surrounded by friends and family.
Speaking to the Ulster Star at her mother's birthday party, Winifred Thompson said that her mother had a "wonderful life".
She was married to William James Henning and they had two children - Winifred and the late David. She also had one grandson called Steven.
During the birthday celebrations Mrs Thompson explained her mother's secret to a long and happy life: "She didn't smoke or drink and she was always interested in showjumping. She never had a bad word to say about anyone."
The funeral will take place tomorrow from her late home at Innisfayle Park, Lisburn, at 11.10am, followed by the service at Lisburn Independent Methodist Church at 11.30am. She will then be buried at Roselawn Cemetery at 1.30pm.
