Sack the parades watchdog, says Order
A leading Orangeman has demanded the Parades Commission be sacked.
Last week the body allowed a march in the Victoria Terrace area of Portadown.
However it was later rerouted after nationalists objected, claiming it was part of the Garvaghy Road.
Portadown Orange Order district master Darryl Hewitt called for the Secretary of State to dismiss the Parades Commission after it refused to order a new review of the decision.
He claimed members were not "fit for purpose".
Meanwhile, Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness is seeking the support of other Executive party leaders for a joint statement appealing for a peaceful parading season. He has circulated a draft statement which acknowledges the efforts made around contentious parades by community leaders and police, and calls for local agreement in areas with unresolved parading issues.
