Samurai sword gang robs men

Police are hunting a gang who held up two men with a samurai sword and handgun in Belfast city centre.

It is believed the three masked robbers, who were also carrying baseball bats, fired at least one shot during the early morning incident at North Street.

The victims, aged 28 and 31 were forced to hand over a briefcase containing an undisclosed sum of cash.

The gang made off in a stolen black Audi A4 estate car which was recovered just after 8am in Stanhope Street.

PSNI detective chief inspector Alan Little said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who noticed a black Audi A4 estate in the North Street, Kent Street and Carrickhill areas of the city this morning."
