Sarah steps out with her dad for Memory Walk
BBC Presenter Sarah Travers and her father Ian cut the ribbon on yesterday’s Northern Ireland flagship Memory Walk
Around 300 walkers have stepped out to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society at the Belfast Memory Walk.
BBC Newsline's Sarah Travers was there with her father Ian, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's three years ago aged 62. Sarah's mother Mary and her son Jack (14) and daughter Evie (8) also joined the walkers as they strolled through Ormeau Park in the city.
Sarah said: “It was wonderful to see so many people walking today with such an important aim — to raise funds to provide vital services for people with dementia in Belfast and the surrounding areas. Despite the rain, there was a fabulous turnout and atmosphere and I was proud to lead the walk with my dad and the rest of the family.”
All funds raised will help fund the Alzheimer's Society's services, such as day support and befriending.
