Sean Brady 'moved' by faith of Michaela Harte McAreavey’s widower
The head of the Irish Catholic Church last night acclaimed as “an amazing grace” a television documentary in which the widowed husband of Michaela McAreavey spoke of how she was watching over him in his anguished loss.
In his Holy Thursday sermon at Chrism Mass in St Patrick's Cathedral, Armagh, Cardinal Sean Brady described the RTE programme as “a powerful piece of television”.
Cardinal Brady paid special tribute to how John McAreavey expressed his religious faith to explain how he coped with the trauma of finding his young bride, while on their blissful honeymoon, dead in their hotel in Mauritius in January.
Also in the documentary Michaela's father, Mickey Harte, manager of the Tyrone GAA team, talked about how his faith had kept him going.
“What a consolation and a grace to see people speak so clearly, and so convincingly, about their faith in God,” said Cardinal Brady.
