Staff at Sean Graham bookmakers are to vote on strike action, a union has said.

Unite said the ballot on industrial action follows the unanimous rejection of a pay offer.

Strike dates under consideration include March 15 and 18.

Unite officer Davy McMurray said management needed to urgently address "the issues of poverty pay and staff security".

"Over the past few months we have highlighted issues of concern for our members working for Sean Graham bookies across Northern Ireland, such as the absence of protective barriers to ensure staff security and the absence of overtime rates or any recompense for unsocial working hours. We have demanded action on the poverty pay rates which management expect workers to live on."

Sean Graham bookmakers was not available for comment. However, in October the company said that "management has always put the safety and well-being of staff at the heart of our operations".

It also said that staff costs and workforce size had increased.
