Secret service 'tried to recruit' Belfast man in Anne Frank museum
A north Belfast man has revealed how attempts were made to recruit him as an intelligence agent while on holiday in Amsterdam.
Gerard Gearon, father of two from Ardoyne, was visiting the Anne Frank museum in Holland when he was approached by two men with Belfast accents.
He said he recognised them as being the same two plain-clothed officers who had approached him 18 months before at London’s Standsted airport.
The incident is understood to be the latest in a line of similar approaches by intelligence officers in their fight against dissident republicans at holiday destinations across the world.
