Serial burglar caged for Beechlawn House Hotel theft
A persistent burglar and thief with 55 convictions has been handed a 12-month sentence after stealing cash from the handbag of a hotel guest.
Michael Bernard McGrory, from Glasvey Walk in Dunmurry, mounted a fire escape at the Beechlawn House Hotel, reached into an open bathroom window and stole £380 from a guest's handbag on May 25 last year.
Craigavon Crown Court, sitting in Belfast, heard the 28-year-old was linked to the burglary through fingerprint evidence.
When McGrory was arrested he initially denied involvement, but he subsequently changed his plea to guilty.
McGrory was handed a 12-month sentence, half of which he will serve in custody with the remaining six months spend on supervised licence upon his release.
