Seven businesses hit by burglaries

Police are hunting a gang of men believed to be responsible for a spate of burglaries across south Belfast.

Seven businesses in the Ormeau Road area, including a beauty salon, were targeted over the weekend, with at least four incidents happening during the early hours of Monday.

Cash, dozens of pairs of false eyelashes and boxes of fake tan were among the items stolen.

Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) Detective Constable Ciara Mullan said: "We believe that approximately two or three males were involved in these burglaries and tools were used to force rear and front doors in the various premises.

"In the incidents sums of cash were taken from a number of premises, while 50 pairs of quite unique false eyelashes and 30 boxes of fake tan - a mixture of St Tropez and Cocoa Brown - were taken from a beauty salon that was the victim of this crime."

The burglaries happened sometime between 6pm on Saturday November 29 and Monday December 1.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at Musgrave Street on the non-emergency 101 number.
