Sex assault charges GP suspended

A doctor at the centre of allegations of sexual abuse at a health centre has been suspended by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS).

Dr Tony Chee will appear in court next month charged with a number of sexual assaults at a Co Armagh medical practice.

All the alleged offences occurred in Richhill Health Centre, where he was working as a GP, between 2009 and 2011 when the practice severed its ties with him.

The 45-year-old was charged by the police with sexual assault following a number of complaints.

He had been working under strict conditions as a locum in Portadown. It is understood he had already stopped working voluntarily.

However, after an interim hearing at the MPTS on Monday he was suspended.
