Shamed lawyer avoids jail after bogus property deal
A disgraced former solicitor has avoided an immediate jail sentence after he lost almost £100,000 of his clients' money on a bogus property deal.
Berkeley White (45), of Quay Road, Ballycastle, was handed an 18-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, at Craigavon Crown Court yesterday.
The ex-solicitor was convicted in May of abusing trust and taking money belonging to his clients in December 2011.
White lost the money when he was conned into a fake method of saving bank charges when buying a guesthouse.
