Police say a fire at a house in Malvern Way in the Lower Shankill area of Belfast is "suspected arson".

DUP Councillor Brian Kingston said: "Those responsible for this and previous attacks are a scourge on the lower Shankill community. There is no place for such thuggish and criminal behaviour in any stable community.

"I hope that the police will make rapid progress in their investigation and I urge anyone who can assist that investigation to pass on whatever information they have.”

Detective Constable Anita Cummings said investigations are at an early stage.

The PSNI is appealing for information.
