A shed and an oil tank were set ablaze in a suspicious fire in Cullybackey, near Ballymena on Saturday.

The fire was started at around 11.30pm on Saturday night in the Tober Park area of the Co Antrim village.

A number of people had to be evacuated from nearby houses while the Fire Service extinguished the blaze.

Detective Inspector Carmichael said the cause of the fire was being treated as suspicious and that police were keen to hear from anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area after 11pm.

Police are investigating a possible link between the fire and the smashing of a rear window of Renault Megane on Tober Park at about 3am on Sunday.

Information can be given on the police non-emergency number, 101.
