Sick Oscar Knox improving after lung setback
Little Oscar Knox is continuing his fight for life as thousands rally behind the youngster.
The brave Belfast boy’s legion of well-wishers inundated his Twitter account and Facebook page with messages of support after a week of agonising highs and lows for the four-year-old’s family.
Last week Oscar travelled to Philadelphia with parents Stephen and Leona and sister Izzy in the hope he would finally receive potentially life-saving treatment for stage four neuroblastoma, which causes tumours to develop in the stomach, spine, chest and neck.
But doctors delivered the devastating news that he also has a serious heart condition, ruling out the planned six months of immunotherapy he was due to start.
At the weekend a lung collapsed. Yesterday his parents tweeted: “I'm sure you appreciate, things are changing here by the hour. Highs and lows, smiles and tears. But the fight Oscar is putting up is unbelievable.”
They added later: “Oscar's collapsed lung is slowly looking better on X-ray and heart function improving. Keep going Oscar! You can do it!”
