Sinn Fein denies secret abuse unit claim
Sinn Fein has dismissed a DUP MP's claim that a committee existed within the republican movement a decade ago to deal with sex abuse claims.
East Londonderry MP Gregory Campbell claimed yesterday in the House of Commons that this committee existed 13 years ago and dealt with 100 abuse claims.
During Northern Ireland questions, he said he believes there had been "very prominent republicans involved in the committee".
Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness said: "I wouldn't credit anything Gregory Campbell says under parliamentary privilege with an answer."
Sinn Fein responded to Mr Campbell's claim as "untrue and without basis".
