Students at Queen's have ended their sit-in over the university's links to fossil fuels. Last Friday around 15 students took over the administration building to protest against the Belfast university's failure to commit to divestment of stocks in fossil fuels.

Politicians including Green Party leader Natalie Bennett had come out in support of the group, which calls itself Fossil Free QUB.

After a protest that lasted five days, the group said yesterday it had a "constructive meeting" with senior management and had agreed to end the sit-in.

In a joint statement the university and the Students' Union agreed a timetable for a comprehensive review of the investment policies next year.

The statement said: "This will involve a comprehensive review of the university's current investment policy, engaging all relevant stakeholders in this process, including the Students' Union and Fossil Free QUB."
