Six police officers were injured and three PSNI vehicles damaged while they were chasing down suspected teenage burglars.

The incident happened in the early hours of Wednesday.

Police received a report of persons acting suspiciously in the area of Lynda Meadows just before midnight on Tuesday.

When they attended the area they watched two teenagers aged 17 and 19 who, after a chase involving the police helicopter were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary.

Later while officers were conducting follow up enquiries in Lynda Meadows, a suspected stolen car rammed two police vehicles and made off from the area.

The stolen car was followed towards Belfast by officers on the ground and the PSNI helicopter.

The car rammed another police vehicle on Cullingtree Walk before the occupants abandoned it and made off on foot.

With assistance from the helicopter officers arrested two males, aged 15 and 16, a short time later on suspicion of burglary and a number of motoring offences.

All four suspects remain in custody assisting police with their enquiries.
