Young Glentoran Academy players were on the ball in showing off their talent to Irish President Michael D Higgins at a showcase in The Oval.

Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness and Economy Minister Simon Hamilton were also on hand to see the talented youngsters demonstrate their skills at the east Belfast stadium.

Formed in 2008, the Glentoran Academy currently has 32 teams with players aged from three to 17 for boys and girls, 75 volunteer coaches, and recently launched a disability section with 31 players.

President Higgins - a former President of Galway United in the League of Ireland - met with the captains of the Glentoran Under 16, 15, and 12 teams.
