Star Hinds turns super-villain for Justice League film
Belfast actor Ciaran Hinds is to star in the next big budget Hollywood superhero movie - Justice League .Hinds (63) - who has been back in the spotlight for his role as Mance Rayder in Game of Thrones - will play villainous alien Steppenwolf in the cinema adaptation of DC Comics' superhero thriller.
The former St Malachy's College pupil - now based in Paris - has a long and glittering history of stage and screen work.
Hinds made his film debut in 1981 John Boorman's Arthurian fantasy Excalibur, and has made many appearances in Ireland with the Lyric, Abbey and Field Day Theatre companies.
In Justice League, RADA alumnus Hinds joins big Hollywood names such as Josh Brolin, Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck and Jesse Eisenberg. The film is expected to reach cinemas in November 2017.
Hinds isn't the first Northern Irish actor to take on a superhero movie. Sir Ken Branagh directed 2011's critically-acclaimed Thor.
One of Liam Neeson's early leading roles was in Sam Raimi's Darkman in 1990, and he then played supervillain Ra's al Ghul in Batman Begins in 2005.
