Step back in time at Belfast Zoo

Published 28/02/2012 | 00:00

Visitors to Belfast Zoo will have the chance to take a step back in time next month with a special tour of the old Bellevue Zoo.

Zoo keeper Raymond Robinson will lead the tour around the old site on Saturday, March 10 taking in highlights including the old bandstand where musicians kept the crowds entertained, the famous Bellevue staircase and the original animal enclosures that were used in 1934.

It is hoped the tour will rekindle fond memories among older visitors and highlight dramatic changes the zoo has seen over the past 78 years.

Tickets cost £12 per adult (which includes zoo admission) and can be booked by calling 028 9077 6277, ext 229.
