Two men have been charged with the murder of Stephen Carson in south Belfast.

Mr Carson, 28, was shot in the head last Thursday night at a house in the city after a group of armed men broke in as he was eating dinner with his partner and nine-year-old son.

The victim, who had recently been released from prison, tried to hide in the bathroom of the Walmer Street house when the attackers forced entry, but they shot him with a shotgun through the door.

He sustained fatal injuries to his head, dying later in hospital.

The two men aged 32 and 37 are due to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
