The funeral of a Co Tyrone father who died days after a workplace accident has taken place in Loughmacrory.

Stevie McTeague (51) died peacefully in hospital on Saturday after becoming trapped under machinery at a heavy plant equipment factory near his home in Loughmacrory.

The funeral service was held in the Church of St Mary, Loughmacrory, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Originally from Omagh, Mr McTeague moved to Loughmacrory in recent months with his wife Helen and their two boys.

"He was a hands-on father right from the start and enjoyed precious time with his sons, said parish priest Fr Thomas Mallon.

He added: "Once the boys were old enough they enjoyed father and son time at Omagh Golf Club."

Fr Mallon also spoke of Mr McTeague's passion for bike racing photography: "He was happiest hanging out of a hedge, camera in hand, poised to capture shots of the action as motorbikes raced past him.

"The community surround Helen, Conor and Ryan with their sympathy as they try to cope with this sudden and tragic bereavement."
