Stolen car driven at PSNI officers

Police have escaped injury after a stolen car was driven at officers.

They were responding to reports of a stolen car from Garda colleagues over the border in Co Donegal when the northern registration Toyota Celica was spotted in Derry.

The PSNI said the stolen car was reversed into a police car in the Caw Hill Park area of the city at about 4am causing damage to the front grill.

Officers then approached the car which was driven at them and over the foot of one of the officers who did not suffer injury.

The PSNI said the Garda in Buncrana had reported the car stolen from Bridgend at about 12.20am.

They said the Toyota drove off towards Limavady Road following the incident.
