Sunshine and smiles as Northern Ireland ace Stuart Dallas ties knot with high school flame
Winger back from Euro training camp for beautiful ceremony... but honeymoon will have to wait
Northern Ireland footballer Stuart Dallas has married his high school sweetheart during a quick break from his Euro 2016 preparations.
The midfielder dashed off from training camp for his wedding yesterday to childhood sweetheart Juneve Lamont, just nine days before the national team's opening game against Poland. The happy couple tied the knot in a sunny afternoon service at the Independent Methodist Church in Dallas's home town of Cookstown, Co Tyrone.
Stuart and Juneve, who wore an ivory lace gown, left the church under a floral arch.
The pair then headed off in a vintage-style car to the lavish Castle Leslie Estate in Co Monaghan for their reception.
Ahead of the wedding, Juneve tweeted: "Today I get to marry my best friend. See you at the church."
Stuart and Juneve got together when they were just 16 and pupils at Cookstown High School, and have been a love match ever since. They got engaged during a romantic break in Paris in 2013.
Stuart will be heading back there on June 21 when Northern Ireland play Germany at the Parc des Princes in their final group game.
The newly-married couple also have a daughter, Pixie, who turns five in October.
The newlyweds had the blessing of Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill.
Speaking previously, Stuart said the wedding date had been set for more than two years.
"A couple of years ago I was in Paris and got engaged, so I have fond memories about France for sure. It was in November 2013," Dallas told the Belfast Telegraph.
"It'll be a bit different in Paris this time obviously with Northern Ireland. I'm sure it will be a great experience. It's something that will live with me for the rest of my life." The honeymoon will have to wait until after the Euros as Dallas will be flying off to join the Northern Ireland team on an early morning chartered flight tomorrow.
The wedding comes on the eve of Northern Ireland's final warm-up game against Slovakia in Trnava today.
The squad will then travel on to France the following day, ahead of the opening game against Poland on June 12.
Dallas plays his club football for Leeds United.
He previously played in the Irish League, first in the intermediate ranks with Coagh United and later for Crusaders.
The 25-year-old made his Northern Ireland debut in a 2-0 defeat against Wales in May 2011. He has made 13 international appearances, scoring one goal for his country.
Stuart isn't the only player to get hitched recently. Only two weeks ago, Northern Ireland striker Kyle Lafferty married his partner, the Scottish model Vanessa Chung.
Dallas was among the squad which left Belfast for the Euros on Monday. After playing Poland, Northern Ireland take on the Ukraine in Lyon on June 16.
They finish their group games against the Germans in Paris on June 21.
