Suspect held over bomb bid on PSNI officer’s car
A 36-year-old man has been arrested by detectives investigating the attempted murder of a policeman in Belfast.
The suspect is being questioned about the booby-trap bomb that was left under the officer's car in the east of the city in December.
He was arrested in west Belfast yesterday morning.
The PSNI constable was preparing to take his wife and two children out for Sunday lunch when he discovered the device under his vehicle at his home on the Upper Newtownards Road.
Senior officers have said the bomb could have killed the policeman and his family.
The failed attack, blamed on dissident republicans, took place close to PSNI headquarters and to Stormont.
