A 24-year-old has been remanded in custody charged with murdering a man at a weekend house party.
Michael McLaughlin was stabbed to death at an apartment block on the Hillhead Road near Castledawson on Sunday night.
Appearing before Magherafelt Magistrates Court yesterday was Leon Robert Paul Johnston, from Ballydugennan Villas in Toomebridge, who is charged with killing Mr McLaughlin.
Johnston was remanded in custody to appear via videolink on September 8.
On Tuesday detectives investigating the murder had successfully applied for a further 36 hours to question Johnston.
The court had heard the accused was arrested on Sunday night but was not fit for interview until after 9pm on Monday.
A detective revealed Johnston had to be assessed by a psychiatrist and was also taken to Altnagelvin Hospital for assessment.
Mr McLaughlin, also 24, was originally from the Toome area and had moved to Castledawson about a month before his murder.
