Suspect object leads to third security alert in same Carrickfergus street in space of week
A suspect object has led to a security alert in a sleepy Carrickfergus street for the third time in the space of a week.
A number of homes were evacuated in the Broadland Gardens area on Monday morning.
Army bomb experts were sent to the scene of the third alert in the area, following two in the space of just 24 hours last week.
Two objects found were later described as hoaxes.
The alert has now ended.
Bomb teams also attended an alert last Monday afternoon - following a hoax alert in the area on Sunday, January 19.
Some 20 to 30 residents were evacuated to a nearby leisure centre.
It's understood last Monday's second alert may have been prompted as police reexamined the area.
Four controlled explosions were carried out on a device in the same sleepy cul-de-sac on Sunday.
The suspect device was later said to be a hoax.
