Suspect object which prompted security alert in Co Down declared a hoax
A suspect object which led to a security alert in Co Down has been declared a hoax.
Army bomb teams dealt with a suspicious object in Downpatrick on Wednesday afternoon.
Bishops Brae had been closed in both directions from Vianstown Road to the junction of Ballynoe Road.
A number of homes were also evacuated.
PSNI detective sergeant David Cameron said : "Police attended a report of a suspicious object at Bishops Brae, Downpatrick today.
"ATO attended the scene and the object was declared a hoax device. The object was removed and taken away for further forensic examinations. All roads have re-opened to traffic."
