Suspected arson attack causes serious damage to Belfast takeaway
Police are investigating a fire which gutted a Belfast chip shop.
The blaze took hold at the business at the junction Donegall Road with Donegall Avenue, at around 2.30am.
It's understood three fire engines attended the scene.
The fire is being treated as a suspected arson attack.
A PSNI spokesman said: "Shortly before 2:30 am police received a report that the building was on fire. NIFRS were in attendance.
"The fire which is being treated as deliberate, has caused extensive damage to the inside of the business and also smoke damage to adjoining flats in the area.
"Anyone who has any information which may assist should contact Musgrave, on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 189 17/06/17.".
