Police are investigating reports of suspicious activity on the railway line in Co Down.

Members of the public have been asked to be vigilant.

Police in Newry are investigating reports of suspicious activity in the area of the railway line and towpath between Newry and Poyntzpass.

Chief Inspector Davy Beck stated, “We are asking members of the public to be vigilant, if you are in the area and you notice anything that appears suspicious or out of place do not approach it but contact us straight away.”

“You can contact the police on 101 or 999 in an emergency."
