By Staff Reporter

A teenage girl has been seriously sexually assaulted by two men in a car park in Portrush, police have said.

Detectives are appealing for a woman who helped the 17-year-old victim after the attack in the Dunluce Road area to come forward.

It happened early on Thursday, August 28, but the details were only disclosed recently.

Detective Inspector Adrian Brown from the PSNI's Rape Crime Unit said: "We have received a report that a 17-year-old female was seriously sexually assaulted by two males in a car park in the Dunluce Road area of Portrush, sometime between 1.30am and 2am.

"The two males made off when another female, unknown to the injured party, shouted at them. This female was wearing a red dress and helped her (the victim) onto a bus marked 'DC Bus'.

"I would appeal to this female to come forward and contact me to assist with the investigation."

Police can be contacted on the non-emergency number, 101.
