Detectives investigating the discovery of an explosive device in north Belfast last Friday have arrested an 18-year-old man.

The suspect was detained as police conducted a number of searches in the Brompton Park area this morning.

Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) Detective Inspector David Lowans, from the Serious Crime Branch, said the suspect was taken to Antrim police station for questioning.

Police have said the device was substantial and targeted at officers. A controlled explosion was carried out.
