Masked men armed with wooden bats attacked two teenagers in Cookstown on Saturday night.

At around 11.10pm two teenage males were standing outside a house in the Windsor Crescent area when they were approached by a number of masked men carrying wooden bats and assaulted.

One of the teenagers sustained a swollen cheek and a cut to his lip as a result of the incident.

The attackers made off on foot across nearby playing fields.

Police ask anyone who was in the area at the time and who witnessed the incident to contact CID in Cookstown on the non-emergency number 101.
