Tesco erects barrier to stop anti-social behaviour

By Michael McCready

The decision by Tesco to erect a barrier at a car park at its Glengormley complex to try to reduce anti-social behaviour has been welcomed.

The barriers were erected at the store on the Carnmoney Road in a bid to keep out car loads of youths who regularly gather in the area.

The problem has been highlighted in The CT on a number of occasions.

Alderman Nigel Hamilton said: “I have been involved in having a number of these barriers erected in different car parks in the Glengormley area and on this occasion I have been working with Tesco. They have always been extremely concerned and ready to support local residents’ issues.”

Alderman Hamilton added that this move should alleviate the problem of anti-social behaviour.

Tesco confirmed the move and said it hoped it helped resolve the issue.
