Three Belfast SDLP councillors suspended after abstaining from vote on motion condemning harassment of women at clinics
Three SDLP Belfast councillors have been suspended after they abstained from a vote on Monday night.
They were suspended for 'breaching party discipline' after abstaining from a vote on a motion calling for an end of harassment of women outside reproductive rights clinics in Belfast.
An SDLP spokesperson said: "Following a breach of party discipline, Cllr Patrick Convery, Cllr Kate Mullan and Cllr Declan Boyle have had the party whip withdrawn.
"Cllr Convery has been removed as the council group leader and councillor Mullan has been removed as deputy group leader."
