Three divers missing near Whitehead off the coast of County Antrim have been found "safe and well".

They were reported missing shortly before 5.30pm on Tuesday.

An Irish Coastguard helicopter was involved in the search along with Coastguard rescue teams from Portmuck and Larne. A number of merchant vessels also helped.

A Coastguard spokesman said the divers had been located in the water by a lifeboat and they were due to be airlifted to shore for medical checks.

"They are safe and well," he said.

There is no further information at this time.
