Detectives investigating the murder of 28-year-old Stephen Carson have been granted further time by a judge to question three men.

The men, aged 32, 37 and 39, were arrested on Friday and police were last night given an additional 36 hours to question them.

Mr Carson was shot in front of his 26-year-old partner and nine-year-old son in their Walmer Street home in south Belfast last Thursday night. He was shot in the head through his bathroom door.

Appealing for information, Detective Superintendent Kevin Geddes said: "We are currently seeking to speak with anyone who may have noticed a dark-coloured saloon-type car bearing southern Irish registration plates being driven in the vicinity of Sunnyside Street or Haywood Avenue between 10pm and 11pm on Thursday."
