Three teen boys arrested after PSNI helicopter tracks them travelling on stolen motorbike in west Belfast
Three teenage boys have been arrested after they were tracked by a police helicopter driving through west Belfast on a stolen motorbike.
Police air support observed the three boys on a suspected stolen motorcycle travelling from the Divis area to the Lisvarna Heights area of west Belfast at approximately 9.15am on Thursday.
Air support alerted local police on the ground who quickly made their way to the Lisvarna Heights area.
The three youths abandoned the motorcycle and made off - however air support kept observing them and they were apprehended by officers at approximately 10.30am.
The bike was confirmed as stolen from a property in the Wellington Place area earlier that morning.
Inspector Alan Swann said: “One of the 14-year-olds and the 17-year-old were arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking in which the vehicle is driven dangerously and no insurance.
"The other 14 year old was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking in which the vehicle is driven dangerously, no insurance and driving whilst disqualified. All three youths have been released on bail pending further enquiries.”
