Throat slasher escapes prison

A man who cut a drinking partner's throat has walked free from court after his 18-month jail term was suspended for three years.

At the end of his Belfast Crown Court trial last month, 43-year-old James Patrick Collin was convicted of wounding James Moloney on December 12, 2008, but acquitted of attempted murder.

The trial jury heard how Collin and Mr Moloney had been drinking together when the incident happened.
