Toddler hurt in sectarian attack
A toddler has been injured in a sectarian attack on a house in east Belfast.
The girl received a cut to her forearm from broken glass during the incident in Derwent Street on Monday night.
A large group of unknown men attacked the house with hammers. The child was in the house with a man.
A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesman said: "At this time police are treating the incident as sectarian."
They appealed for anybody with information to contact them.
Alliance Party assembly member Chris Lyttle said: "This was an absolutely appalling attack.
"The whole community is in shock that a young child was injured during this incident.
"The fact that the police are treating this attack as sectarian is also extremely disturbing.
"My thoughts are with the girl that was injured and I hope that she makes a swift recovery."
