Top PSNI officer welcomes convictions
The PSNI’s most senior detective in south and east Belfast has reaffirmed his commitment to tackling both domestic and commercial burglaries robustly following the successful conviction of three men for attempted burglary.
The three men, all in their 20s, were sentenced to four months’ imprisonment suspended for three years each at Laganside Magistrates Court after pleading guilty to attempted burglary of commercial premises in the Belmont Road area in February.
Detective Chief Inspector Garry Clarke said the convictions were a tribute to his officers’ quick thinking and actions.
“Tackling burglaries, both domestic and commercial, is a key priority for us and I’m particularly pleased that we have achieved such an excellent result due to quick, diligent police work,” he said.
“We are constantly looking at ways to prevent crimes from occurring and bringing more burglars before the courts.
“We will continue to tackle burglary but we also need people to continue to come forward to report suspicious activity and to give us information, no matter how small they think it is, which will help us to bring those that are preying on the community before the courts.”
